Hey everyone, Another new So Cal member

I purchased a 1995 ford aspire two months ago. With no tune up or any modifications on 2 full tanks and 3 half tanks it was in the low 30s mpg with no highway driving. Engine was heavy sludge under oil fill cap but these are my favorite used cars. she only had 109k miles. After adding new plugs filters and 150 less pounds, its at 38mpg corrected for the huge 80 seres tires I added. (speedo actually reads 8.9% off). I plan on sealing up the underside of the car and driving it the next few months as-is. I deliver pizzas so my routes are very inconsistant, and car isn't always at warm temps as each direction is 5 miles or less. I dont get on the highway with this car at all and when I do im generally not practicing any control of the accelerator. I think the first month of results are outstanding compared to my turbocharged 4 cylinder. I hope once i fix my dragging brakes and drive the car cleaner i can double the mpgs I get out of my Dodge SRT-4.

Get Valvoline maxlife oil in 5W30, or I think ford has said 5W20 is okay for these if available. This is very high in detergents and will clean all the crap out, will probably need changing at 3000 miles. Then after that if the motor is tight use supertech (walmart) 0W30 synthetic on 10,000 mile changes, unless it's black and gungy still, then give it another few thousand with a fresh lot of maxlife.

Definitely keep us posted. Many who deliver items for a living would be keen on your results too.

im actually using the auto-rx cleanse schedule per the boboilguy forums. since this engine doesnt even hold 4 quarts i imagine the product is even more concentrated than users with 5 or 6 quart pans. I run wally world synthetic in all my cars :)
