Hypermiling questions...

Alright, so I do EOC some of the time, but most of the time I leave it in neutral, but I remember reading that leaving it in gear causes a fuel cutoff. So which technique is better, leaving it in neutral with the engine on, or putting it in 5th in my VX tranny when i'm coasting down a hill.

Next question, does P&G work with the in-gear solution effectively?

Thanks,
Dave

Neutral is generally better. DFCO is great when you need to slow down anyway, but if you're trying to P&G then it costs more energy by slowing down the vehicle than it saves by cutting off fuel.

Agreed, even 5th gear slows you down more than coasting in neutral, thou it can come in handy should you need this effect such as on certain down hills where you might otherwise severely exceed the speed limit.
