National Gas and Varied Prices?
 

can anyone explain why/how gas is $3.29/gal in Pearson, Georgia?

just curious why the difference in prices nationally. my wife suggested we boycott the gas station owners via buying gas on only certain days AND buy gas only(no beverages, food,etc).

i've often wondered what part the gas station owners play in the price game. BTW, Grand Terrace, California is $5.09/gal. OUCH!

I think most gas stations have too much competition to artificially raise prices, and the expense comes from further up the supply chain. I think I read somewhere that gas is often sold at/near cost or as a loss leader to get customers to buy other stuff.

Either way, buying gas only on specific days isn't going to change anything. Not buying anything other than gas from gas stations ought to work well.

I paid my own record today, 3.90.

State taxes and EPA mandated blends do a lot to vary prices.

Oh, and demand for the local supply too.

We've been over $4 a gallon for a few weeks now in Wisconsin. Wisconsin has very high fuel taxes, ethanol mandates, and the Milwaukee metro area is mandated to have an RFG blend by the EPA.

i understand and agree w/ both of you but, i've seen as much as .15 difference in the same town. that is among top tier brands BTW.
