i've mentioned this before in other threads. if something is not done about fuel prices, the negative affect of the economy will start to change nature and people for the worst.

the environmentalists and the congressmen in their pockets live in a bubble if they think the economy has NO affect on the environment.

the deeper our society goes into recession and ultimately a depression, the worse things will get. crimes like theft, murder, and rape will all go up in frequency. people will start wood burning for meals, gardening, killing animals, etc.

NOW is the time to act. are you listening congress?

It is a shame that people are forced into stealing, this has been the case for the longest time, the poorest people are exposed to the worst kind of media propaganda now, they shows them the rich and wealthy on ever bill board, magazine and TV channel, I remember driving by the tent cities at the out skirts of LA, its shocking.
