VX tranny fill threads stripped

After changing tranny oil I overthightened the fill plug and stripped the tranny housing. Curenntly the plug can seal but maybe 20 ft lbs. I am considering sealing the threads with JB weld and filling through the backup sensor on future services. Helicoils and re-taps scare me because of metal shavings, etc. Let me know if anyone has any advice. Thanks

JB Weld has been holding a plug in my tranny case for the last 9 months, fragged an experimental LSD in there and punched a hole in it, doh.

yup.. use JB weld, that stuff is hard like metal. my buddy made a hole in his gas tank while off roading, JB weld and 3 years later, its still there.
