Vehicle Event History

Add Events such as oil changes to a vehicle's history.

Events such as oil changes and tune ups should be relatively trivial to add to the site and would transform Fuelly from a gas-logging site into a comprehensive car-maintenance site. These could be visualized in the line graph as vertical lines colored by category (red vertical line = oil change, etc).

I must say this is a great site. As a web-developer who's been obsessing over his own car, I had started a similar project but quickly became distracted by other projects as usual. So I hope you don't mind if I share some of my project's plans with you!

Yeah, that's definitely on the soon-ish todo list. We'd like to allow open ended notes that aren't just fuel-ups. We were just talking today about allowing drivers to optionally also put in the costs of such things, so you can get a more accurate picture of how much it costs to drive your car each month, each year, etc.

We've also considered throwing up reminders every 3, 5, and/or 10 thousand miles that your car/bike might be up for some maintenance work.

Personally, I'd like to also add "business miles" as a non-fuel up note for my car's history, so that I could keep track of how much I've driven for work that I'll claim on my taxes the next year as a business expense (we'd definitely add the option to show all business miles from a single year so you could total it up at the end).

I'd say give us another week or two to get this going, it's definitely something we'd like to have on the site.

Fantastic! And more great ideas! The planned maintenance feature would be a valuable addition but I'm curious how the logic exactly applies. "Every x months or y miles, whichever is less" would be the standard format I suppose.

I was also planning to post a solution to that partials-between-fills problem using the google-docs spreadsheet's values but I see you figured it out over at the blue, so I look forward to that fix as well. It would be nice to have at least some visualization for the partials, maybe a hollow circle on the line graph at the date of the partial fill.

Thanks for the site, I'll be sure to tell my friends about it at work next week!

The business miles flag would be unbelievably useful come tax time! And the maintenance ideas seem very useful as well

We just added vehicle notes.
