Choose KM vs Miles or L vs Gal.

When traveling across the border, the distance will be in KM and fuel up in Gallons or visa versa. It would be great if the web and mobile platform could have a selection to put in an alternative measurement on the fly as you are entering your fill up.

This is an occasional request we've had and we've talked about it quite a bit. We know it's a hassle to do conversions before you enter data at Fuelly, but we don't want to complicate the fuel-up form for everyone all the time. This situation comes up occasionally for some, frequently for others, and almost never for a good majority. So while we know it's a hassle, it's not unworkable.

My favorite conversion tool is google. You can type in "10 gallons in litres" and you'll get the value at the top of the page.

LOL and that particular example will give you an different result depending on which country you are in, since there are two different sizes of gallons. To be safe you need to specify us gallons or imperial gallons in the google query.

True, MMUK. But unless you're driving between the US and UK it won't be a problem. And since you're googling from your home country, you should get the most appropriate unit for you.

Geolocation isn't always reliable, for example if I google from my corporate network, I get US results not UK results...

So type the extra two characters and make sure you include "UK" in front of the "gallons."

Is there a way of calculating miles per litre to add to your mini stats because in the uk they are using metric and imperial values. all fuel pumped is in litres but all distances are in miles.

pb 05-13-2012 01:05 PM

As far as I understand it pockey, no one uses the stat "average miles per litre" to compare fuel economy between vehicles. People either use MPG, km/L, or Litres per 100 km. This is the first request we've had for miles/litre.
