"We have a $17K unit at work that produces 1L @ atmos pressure per hour."
Either that thing is producing some uber clean lab grade hydrogen, or you guys got ripped off. I doubt precision lab equipment is necessary for this application. Besides, I've built a machine before using stainless steel scrubbers that put out far more than 1L/hr. Too bad at the time all I did with it was make explosive soap bubbles. :) |

I notice you said that you cruise at 45-55 at 2-3k rpms. can you change out your rear gears? it was discussed once before on here how to modify a miata. (actually they guy wanted to put a VX motor in one) but I suggested changing out the rear. I did some looking and found out that there aren't that many choices but if you previously used this car for racing, I figure you have some prett deep gears in it. also if you used this car for racing, you may have some contacts that we don't.
I would check the rear gears to see what gearing you had and maybe go down a notch or two. |
Changing the gearing is a $2000+ option (meaning it is not an option <G>). There just aren't many rear ends for my car.

salvage yard?
I am not sure what selection you would have on miatas but I also heard that the rx-7s had similar rears. |

oh well, it was an idea.
I was thinking that if you could put 3.08s in there you might see some pretty significant gains as long as your top gear could handle the low RPMs. sucks that 3.08s aren't available. I think the lowest I saw were 3.66s or something. I am a truck guy. I changed my gears for power. 3.55s to 4.10s I figure it would work the opposite way too. |
