Hello, fellow FE enthusiast from the SF Bay

Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I have lurked around long enough and decided to join. I have been concerned about FE for most of my driving life. I look forward to learning and contributing to this site.

I drive a 96 Honda Civic EX coupe, with the automatic. I bought this car in march and have logged 8800 miles of fuel usage already. My baseline MPG before finding this site was 30.73 MPG.

Most of my driving is city driving. My typical daily commute is 9 miles each way and it takes about 30-45 minutes. That really has a nasty affect on my FE. My photography has me on the road a lot, 500-1000 miles a month are normally from photography road trips. So, that helps the MPG's a bit.

I also ride a 92 Yamaha Seca II. It is a great little bike. Not too efficient for commuting, it is really cold blooded and requires 5-7 min of gas wasting choke before it can be ridden. If I only ride it to work and back it will give me mid-high 30's, not even 10mpg more then my car. If I just use it for pleasure, without many cold starts I can get about 50MPG. I have never rode my bike with FE in mind. I don't rag on it, but I do ride it hard at times.

Well, I look forward become a part of this forum and saving more at the pump!!!

Mike
