Yeah, metering rods should be pretty easy.

I bought a junkyard carb (matching numbers) to rebuild but the project kind fizzled out in my basement...I may resume before this "winter" is over....

The link you provided includes a link to a more complex DIY system that runs off the smog pump and provides more water for higher RPM, which would be an improvement on that issue, but I like the 12v...

Even after googling, I'm not sure I understand what the power piston does. Does it move a jet in and out of the air stream depending on vacuum?
