Re: What does this mean?

Re: What does this mean?

Observations:
It was a PITA to get the converter to stop leaking, even with the new gasket. I cleaned it up really...

Re: What does this mean?

Erik-
Good idea. Only bummer is then I can't sell the cat for some $ to pay for the new stuff. Last one of these I sold got me $70, if I remember right. I could have driving farther away and...

Re: What does this mean?

Prices I'm finding are about $200ish. Maybe it would be cheaper and better to go with a header and cheaper aftermarket inline cat instead.... I know universal cats can be had for $50-$70.
Has...

Re: What does this mean?

Yeah, gritty. Very similar to play sand.

With a flashlight, I can almost not see through any parts of it. In a pitch black room with and a high power led I can see some spots of light through,...

Re: What does this mean?

Just found this:
"If the front oxygen sensor has been replaced and the vehicle still sets a P0420 code, the catalytic converter may be at fault and should be replaced if it cannot be brought back to...

Re: What does this mean?

Well, I tore into it today. The dealer is the only place to get that gasket, $18 and it'll be here in the morning. Here's what it looks like from the top side:...

Re: What does this mean?

What kind of effect did this leak have on your fuel mix/ FE since it's right at the the 02? It seems like a bad place for it to happen. Did you just replace the gasket with a new one and that...

What does this mean?

So I noticed a 2-5mpg drop in typical trips the past couple of days. Then I noticed this mostly white, slightly yellow residue on the joint of the exhaust mani to the cat. ...
