MPG Not Calculating

Hello,

My Toyota Highlander profile does not always calculate the MPG. This just started happening within the the last four to five months. Sometimes if I go back and edit the fuel-up and re-save, the MPG will show. This trick didn't work on the last fuel-up.

Any ideas? Corrupt database table?

Your fillup for Jul 18 is marked as a partial fill. When there's a partial fill, no calculation is made for that fill, or the next to avoid publishing any wildly fluctuating numbers. This is completely normal, and your next fillup will calculate provided it is a full tank.

No bug/corruption/error. This is how Fuelly has worked since at least 2008.
From our FAQ page:
Quote:
If you can't completely fill up to the top when you're at the pump and you want to track the fuel-up in Fuelly, check the box next to This is a partial fuel-up. This will let Fuelly know that you have a partial tank. Once marked, Fuelly won't calculate MPG for that fuel-up or the next. However, your partial fills will contribute to your overall average MPG.

Fuelly's calculations rely heavily on you filling your tank to the top because it uses the difference from full to calculate fuel economy on individual fuel-ups.
More info here: http://www.fuelly.com/faq/3/Why-do-I...all-the-way-up
May 26 was marked as a Partial
May 30 followed a partial and therefore did not calculate MPG

July 18 was a Partial
July 25 followed it.

I'm not sure about any of the other fuel ups you edited and saved to "fix". What did you have to change in order to get it to display the data that was initially missing? Which specific fuel-up(s) did you have to edit?

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding your data/profile.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Robert and Jay!

I will keep an eye on it going forward to see if it happens on consecutive fill-ups where there is no partial fill-up.

My pick-up truck uses the odometer method so I understand a partial fill-up would not calculate your MPG but the very next fuel-up should calculate just fine as long as it was a complete fuel-up and you are using the trip meter mileage for the calculation. Not sure how it could be "wild" numbers unless something was entered wrong, which could affect every fuel-up, not just ones following a partial fill-up.

Anyway, I will let you know if it happens again during consecutive fuel-ups.

Thanks,
Shannon

MPG calculation is incorrect. I put in 153.7 miles and it uses .7 to calculate.

I assume you're wanting to track my Trip Miles based on what you've input here: http://www.fuelly.com/car/vespa/gts_...get/302763/log
Edit Vehicle and change your tracking method. Delete and reenter the fuel ups you have. All will be good!

Same as above it looks like. Based on your log: http://www.fuelly.com/car/bmw/s1000r...gor/303042/log
Edit vehicle, change tracking method to Trip Miles, delete and reenter fuel ups.

Please report back if either of you have trouble. Thanks!

There's a difference of 292,788 miles between your last entry, and the previous entry. That's just over 66,000 MPG. Fuelly realizes that this is an error, and therefore is not publishing the calculation. If you edit your fillup with the correct odometer reading, all will be well.
