"waiting"/grey icon/iOS bug - Possible Solutions

Using iPad 2, iOS 7. Made the mistake up updating my beloved GasCubby app. While the app opened, once it was closed the icon is now greyed out and the word "waiting" is below it.

Cannot access two years of data or open the app. Forced the app to close, then did a hard reset. No joy.

All I want is my data so I can find an app that works.

That's an iOS issue, not an issue with the app. This has happened a number of times to me in the past several years with the iPhone and iPad. You're better served posting this to the Apple help forum than to this one.

Beg to disagree with you. GasCubby worked perfectly before Fuelly's update, which also changed the icon. Not an iOS problem, but a coding problem created by Fuelly.

This is the first I've heard of this "bug".

Doing a quick Google search shows it's not that uncommon, and may be more of an iOS bug related to the download.

Those threads offer some steps that you can try. Sounds like the download is just hanging and needs to be killed and start the download again.

Please let me know if and what works from the suggested links.

Just an FYI - We have another update coming out soon. Your data is safe. Please be patient and understand the crash was related to a fix we put in place for iOS8 that resulted in a crash on certain hardware for iOS7. Once again your data is safe and Gas Cubby will work properly soon.

LOL, have no other choice but to wait since there is no way I can delete the nonresponsive "waiting" iOS 8 icon. Pressing and holding it just brings up the delete "x" for all other apps - but not "waiting" - which is the new Gas Cubby Icon. Hard reboots haven't worked either.

Interestingly, the old Gas Cubby icon can be opened in the update section of the App Store. That has allowed me to capture screenshots of my mileage and service logs for the past two years in the event I have to manually enter that information in another app, should the current fiasco not be remedied.

I've read through the threads listed by RobertV. Have tried some of the suggestions with no success. Will work on others later this evening.

Thanks.

Happy to report that I'm "waiting" no longer. No idea what happened, as I moved the app icon into my "stuff" folder so I didn't have to look at it.

All my data was preserved and I'm a happy camper.

Next question: how do I upgrade to the paid version without losing data?

Glad the wait is over!

To answer your question regarding upgrading and moving your data from Free to Paid versions, please take a look at this FAQ- http://www.fuelly.com/gascubby/suppo...etransfer.html
