Fuel Saving Tips

Response to: shift to neutral when stopped or decelerating

Shifting to neutral while stopped will put the smallest load on the engine and result in less fuel use. However, modern cars(some as far back as the 80's) use more fuel when decelerating in neutral. When there is 0% throttle and rpm is above a set threshold (usually somewhere around 11-1200 RPM) the injectors do not fire. This means ZERO fuel is being consumed, vs the small amount that is required when in neutral.
