Suzuki Gixxer Dual Disk 2017 - 1000 km review (from the perspective of a new rider) Completed 1k without any major problems. I travel mostly during rush hour and getting an average fuel consumption of 38.5 km/l. ** The balance of the bike is really good. It feels lighter than it actually is. Awesome manoeuvrability through tight spaces and side of the road. Can easily keep the bike steady at 5-6 km speed without putting my foot down ** The bike pulls great. As most people say, the ready pick-up is really good. Can come out of sticky situations or overtake 95% of the cars on the road without any problem. **Centre console is large and awesome. the gear indicator is especially helpful for a beginner rider like me. ** The clutch is still hard and the gear is still clunky especially 1st and second gear - RIP my fingers. **Sometimes bike doesn't go into first gear if I make a sudden stop due to obstacles on the road. Sometimes, get false neutral as well in second gear. ** The bike is a bit jerky/snatchy in first gear, especially on extremely bad roads. Have to be extremely careful to keep constant/smooth speed in first gear. Increasing the RPM to 1.5k makes throttle response a bit smoother. ** Engine braking is a little harsh on first gear. ** The headlight and horn were awful, changed them immediately after buying the bike. ** Rear brake padel is set too high so I have to set my foot in an awkward position. I asked at the service centre to adjust the pedal height, but they said it's not possible on rear disk model :/ I believe if the pedals are not kept at a comfortable level, it takes longer to apply the rear brakes during emergencies. ** Rear disks are better than drums and are totally worth it. Just make sure the service centres don't spray any oil on it. Most of the service centres have this weird mixture of oil and kerosine which they spray on the bike, the bike looks shiny, but the collateral damage is the disk brakes lose their efficiency. I found that braking distance reduces by 50% after bike washes (when they spray on that stuff) - the rear brakes more than the front. In wet weather, this oil on disk and callipers is extremely dangerous, as the oil residue mixed with water is more slippery. ** Suzuki 20w40 (free one provided from the shop) consumes more fuel (octane) than shell or motul. Shifting from the 20w40 provided by the shop improved my fuel efficiency by 7km/l :o ** After taking the first service from Suzuki Service Cafe the bike makes a clicking noise when I put it in gear and start off, the bike was running perfectly fine before taking the first service. I can't be bothered to take it back to the service cafe because of the overwhelming crowd and rush over there. Oh, I didn't even get a bike wash on the first service, they said the machine was broken and kept the free wash as due. ** I usually hang my helmet on the pillion grab bar when I park my bike and it is already showing signs of paint wear and damage, even though nothing sharp from the helmet touches the grab bar. the helmet hangs by the chin strap which is properly cushioned. ** Rear seating position not comfortable for the pillion. ** Front seat might become uncomfortable after a few hours of constant riding. ** Side stand angle is too steep, sometimes i fear that my bike might tip over
