Installed brand new e-brake cables, changed oil, checked all fluids, and added a new ground wire from the starter ground to the battery negative terminal. Turns over significantly faster now.

Death Rocket went to live with my brother for a little while. Took it for a few 30+ minute drives and the battery actually held a charge.

Took it to work a couple of times. Needs a new battery and some steering work but otherwise in decent shape. Just a couple tanks from 380k. Getting the car ready to let my brother use it for a while.

Found that a brake pad was not seated evenly in the caliper causing a squeal in reverse. Replaced pad and solved squeal. Also found that a washer in the hub was not replaced when the axle was last removed, causing another screeching noise when turning right at high speeds. Replaced washer and no more noise.

Renewed registration and drove it to work today. Filled up but I won't record this tank since it was mostly burned while idling or siphoned out for the lawn mower... old gas was 15 months old. Lots of ice on the road so it's convenient that I was storing the snow tires on it! Rolled over 377,000 miles on the way to work. Planning on using it as a daily driver as it makes itself available (i.e. as long as it doesn't break).

New knock sensor. Motor runs GREAT. Needs a little work still. Now it will sit until I can register it after Christmas.

Put everything back together along with the rebuilt alternator and new Toyota O2 sensor, and drove it for the first time in 9 months! Everything works great including the diag system which never worked on the old harness. And now I know that it doesn't like that I'm using the wrong knock sensor. New one is in the mail. Plan is to get it registered, insured, and get all the bugs worked out in the next couple of months, and then evaluate whether this car can go back to being my primary source of transportation.

Found the problem that's been keeping it from running all year. Simple fix that was overlooked. Still needs an alternator rebuild, one more new electrical connector, a battery mount, and the dash reinstalled.

The Death Rocket is almost ready to run. Tried to start it, got it to turn over and fire, but my old battery is dead. To do: buy, mount, and install new battery; install new heated O2 sensor and engine bay temp sensor, reinstall alternator and gauge cluster. New Koni shocks arrived so now I have motivation to get it driving.

Alternator died when going for a quick drive this weekend. Good news is that I have a brand new wiring harness from mr220v arriving today. Will be tearing into the engine bay over the next few weeks. Will rebuild the alternator, buy a new battery and move it back to the engine bay, and install the new harness. Tax returns have reignited motivation for the project. :P

Death rocket is driving again. However the registration is expired and I've been too busy to get it running again.

Replaced the filler neck hose and gasket but the leak was not stopped. Found out where it is really coming from though and it shouldn't be hard to fix. Also fixed the high idle problem. Plans for paint are in the works.

Fixed the trunk leak and replaced the fuel level sender (which you can do without dropping the tank!). Now just have to replace the gas tank filler neck gasket. Hopefully I can do that without dropping the tank too!

Ordered the fuel tank filler hose and gasket to fix the fuel leak. One step closer to getting the Death Rocket back to daily driver duty.

Death Rocket is out of commission with a decent sized fuel leak. May have to drop the fuel tank to fix it :(

Just got the car back from my brother yesterday! Has a strange high idle issue, but will hopefully be driving good again soon. If I get it running well there is a good chance I have a feeling it will replace Captain Snugglesnuff as the preferred daily driver... especially once the rain starts. And man it is so fun to drive!

Thermostat is definitely bad now. Drove 15 miles on the highway and the temp gauge did not get above half warm.
