Jeep is running well. I'm getting it all ready to sell. Changed the oil and filter last week at 27,750 miles. 15w-40 Rotella + Rislone ZDDP additive 11oz. Sure am going to miss this jeep!

Jeep is running well. I had some fuel starvation. Changed the pump to the AC pump. No difference. Changed out the rubber fuel line which had a coupler with a full line, and problem solved. In short...I must have absolutely no place for air to get in from the tank to the carb.! I need to lube everything and check tightness of all shackles and bolts. I have some rattles that bug me. I put in 87 today.

Jeep is running great. This tank included a day of 4wd up Old Flowers rd. with Bruce, Bonnie, Kim, Brian, Kevin, and others. Lubed everything before the trip. Otherwise, mostly all the rural driving that I do.

Jeep is running good. Hard to start after sitting 2 weeks: remove main jet FIRST before cranking to see if start is better. Cranking first and then removing main jet didn't produce quick start. Avoid loading up by removing main jet first.

Jeep is running good. First drive in 3 weeks and first fill since Oct. Jeep wouldn't cold start. Opened the main jet and no fuel came out so cranked engine for 2 sec. Fuel came out, tighten jet, jeep started right up. I think air must lock the carb somehow when jeep sits for a while. Easy fix! I put the new lean #200 air correction jet in. No discernible difference. I read only helps under extreme load or high RPM's. Who knows?

Jeep is running good. Jet 112 still in carb., Timbrens are on, Timing still adv. from FCT and no ping. Thought mpg's would be better this tank though. I know this tank is full so this next tank should be accurate. I did put new shocks all around. KYB's on the front, AFC's (?) on the rear. All from Rock Auto, all with lifetime warranty.

This is all FCT - much hard 4wd. Jeep is running great. Left front shock and right rear seem to be leaking oil. Maybe time for new shocks, but I am doubtful they really do much.

Sep 4 2020

Jeep is running great. Finally resolved fuel starvation by removing elec. pump. Drove Cherokee Park last week, no issues. 9/3 R&R'd trans, TC, front and rear diff fluids. Will do engine oil soon at 2500 miles. Added a bottle of Redline water wetter. Cleaned all carb jets. Put Motorcraft plugs back in to see if engine would smooth out a bit. Put #112 main jet in to see how a leaner jet works. Checked compression: 105 psi on #1&2, 100psi on #3&4. All ready for FCT.

Aug 20 2020

Drove 8/19 with elec pump out of the loop. No vapor lock. Omix #2 showed 1.5psi when hot and no fuel visible in the bowl. 8/20 put the new Omix #3 on and drove. 2.75psi hot is the best of the pumps. Still no fuel visible in the bowl when hot so I guess that is normal. Thankfully, fuel starvation issue seems to be solved...don't use the elec. pump in the loop.

Aug 18 2020

Okay, took the elec. pump out of the loop today. Will drive the circuit tomorrow and see how it goes. If all goes well, I can be certain that the elec. pump is the issue.

Added by aboyandhisdog on Aug 18 2020 at 5:35 pm

The last few days have given me fits with the psi/fuel line issue. I had re-mounted the elec. pump last weekend with the pump outlet above the inlet at a 45 degree angle as per Autobest in order to avoid vapor lock. Thought I had it figured out. No such luck. It now cuts out every 5 min. or so and I have to turn on the elec. pump to keep from dying. Must have happened 10 times today driving the circuit. It worked better at slower speed like on CR56, but when the engine is under load like at speed, it will lose prime and cut out without the elec pump. I need to drive it now with the elec pump disconnected to see if better.

Aug 13 2020

Okay, went to start jeep this morning with the new Carter (#3) and...nothing. Re plumbed with the elec. pump in so I could prime the new Carter. Primed well. Started up and it died as soon as the fuel to the carb was used up. So, new Carter is no good and going back to RA. I put on an Omix, left the elec. in the loop and took a drive to Budweiser. On the way back on Douglas it went to sputter and die so I turned on the elec. pump to get home. At home, just took the elec. pump out of the loop as it looks to be the problem. Have not driven yet, but so far I have not had the issue with the elec. pump out of the loop.

This tank included Rist canyon, Old Flowers road and Kelly Flats. Fuel issues the whole trip. I have now bypassed the elec. pump and put on a new Carter pump #3. Changed pressure gauge too and the Measureman works same as the Marshall so I'm ruling out the gauge for the pressure drop when hot. Marshall says that is normal.

Aug 10 2020

Th. 8/6 we drove up Rist Canyon, Old Flowers road, and the first bit of Kelly Flats. I had issues every bit of the way with fuel lines. So, Friday am, bypassed the elec. pump. Took a drive and it ran good but, the fuel pressure was still low - only about 1psi. So, swapped out the AC pump as I suspect it is a very weak pump. Put the old Carter in and drove it today. The Carter also runs low psi - only about 1.5 - 2 psi. I may swap out with the new (never used) Carter to see if a new pump delivers higher pressure. If not, maybe the low pressure is just how my system reads or maybe my gauge reads low. Stay tuned...

Jeep is running good. Finally I think I have the fuel lines tight. Replaced all rubber lines and clamps, the elec. pump, both filters, some fittings, the works. Heading up Rist canyon, Old Flowers road, and maybe Kelly Flats tomorrow. Will know for sure if I have success.

Jul 22 2020

Drove up Old Fall River road yesterday (7/21). Same fuel issue as before - air being sucked into line. Today found that the line between elec. pump and the steel line had a loose spring clamp and the rubber had worn inside on the barb. Replaced all the rubber lines and clamps so should now be all set!

Jul 19 2020

Includes a very hard trip up Storm Mt. and the fuel cutting out on me. Had to leave the jeep in the boonies for the night. R&R'd the pick up with a straight steel line and filter at the end. Left end of line ~1/4" above bottom of tank. Should no longer see air infiltration. The Marshall pressure gauges seem to have failed. Put on new Measureman gauge. Will see how it performs. I put on the AC pump for now. On the trail I changed out the Carter to the Omix thinking it was the pump. Both are good. That pick up did not seem to like sucking a lot of fuel while going up steep hills. Coming up is Old Fall River road on this Tues. Will see how it goes with the new pick up. Other than all this, jeep is running good. The new brake light switch leaked. Thinking it was the line, had to go into the shop.

Jeep is running great. This tank included a day up Sevenmile trail an up to Rustic and back. Good mpg's for some offroad. The new fiber washer and the Toyota valve cover grommets seem to have solved the weeping valve cover. Bought a new AGM battery 24F at Advance. The current Motocraft plugs are good. Ordered some new AC Delco to compare.

Jeep is running good. Aired down to 20 from 23 - much better ride. Lubed all suspension points. Adj shackles and pivot bolts. Need to check and maybe repair trans. tower from leaks. May drive with Bruce this week. Trail Ridge set for July 21. Over 1000 mi. now on rebuild. Break-in resulting in better mpg's?

OR serviced the front end and r&r spicer axles, all bearings, seals, "00" grease and new diff lube. Wear pattern on pinion isn't perfect, but looks to have a lot of life left for 6 days/year use. Rear main still leaking too much. Tried the Bars and no luck. Shift tower may still be leaking so need to disassemble and install the shifter rail plugs like Hawk and Watson. Otherwise, jeep is running very good.

Jeep is running great. Rear main was replaced but the leak is back. Weeping at head stud #4. One day jeep didn't start. Not getting fuel. Loosening the main jet and another jet to let gas through did the trick. Jeep goes in Thurs. for Spicer axles and bearings, etc.

Just got the jeep back from or4x4. They replaced the rear main seal. Had to pull the engine - said it was not possible to do it with the engine in. What a pita! No charges - will invoice Darin. I spent today checking all the fasteners and getting things right. Plan to drive it tomorrow. The jeep has new oil, filter, and antifreeze in it now. Rotella 10w30 with Rislone zinc treatment. Plan to leave this oil and filter in for 2k miles. Swapped the t-stat out with the Allied engine. This one now has a 160 and the Allied has a 170.

Apr 1 2020

Rebuilt engine #1 is back in the jeep. Took to OR 4x4 as I had no oil pressure. Galley plug was left out. They corrected and AMS paid the bill. This engine starts and runs great! More power and smoother than before. Had to buy a new #5 carb. The #3 carb had a frozen throttle shaft. The #2 carb had a poor accel pump so I changed out the diaphragm with a new one. have not tried it yet. It has a leaky rear main seal. Phoned Darin and he says put some more miles on it and then let him know. He thinks it is a rope seal but his invoice says it is rubber. So we'll watch it, still breaking in.
