Home-Made Cabin Air Filter
Bored out of my mind, parked and waiting for work, I cleaned the vents...
GROSS! I'm breathing that;
Okay, I did it for 'Truckie' the Dakota. I can do it again.
First take stuff off;
Being careful not to do things like this;
After passing through the plastic grill, here is where the air enters the cab;
 
Now.....cut things up;
Remove the filter media;
Trim & Tape;
Tape it in the hole;
Put everything back...and close the hood to hide the mess.....

Surprisingly, almost no loss of the Ram-Air flow, when the fan is off.
When it rains. After a carwash and when I use the washer, the filter gets wet.
I don't think it bothers the media, but next month I'll change it and report.

This is me in my clean room. I won't venture out unless I'm fully sleeved. I drive, grocery shop, mow lawn, and ride bicycle in this, among other things. Keeps the UV radiation and environmental toxins at bay. Filters out farts somewhat too. Well, specifically, other people's farts, as mine get trapped in the suit.

That's an interesting idea. With my sinuses being what they are, I just might try to duplicate that.
I've seen one of Howard Hughes' old cars. A '53 Chrysler at the Imperial Palace car museum. He had a big filter unit hooked up to the A/C unit in the trunk. All the windows were sealed except for the driver's window.

I just syringe my nostrils out with saline when I get home.... or you can buy a netti pot.

Here it is; February 13, 2011 and I removed the dirty old filter:
Icky, icky, icky.
This is what I didn't have to breathe.
The 'clean side' of the filter.
After the filter was plugged. The fan created some serious suction!
There is plenty of room to make a hole next to the wiper motor and attach duct-work to a proper air box with a real filter.
Seal the holes on the cowl top and voila!
Anybody want to loan me the money?
