My ZF6-650 has an external oil cooler.

The diesel engine can sustain such highpower outputs for so long that it is a bit of a menace to its drivetrain. The ZF6 is an overdrive and that overdrive gear mesh has an inherent frictionloss that is converted into heat.

That jeep's engine will frag itself long before the overdrive in the tranny cooks itself. Not true of a diesel.
