13" tires

I've been looking for some 13" tires and can't seem to find anything priced reasonable, everywhere I find that has 13's is wanting near $100 per tire. When 13's were common you could buy a whole set for about $100. Does anyone know where I can find some decent priced 185/80/13's? I guess if I can't find any 13" tires I'll have to hunt up some 14" rims.

Re: 13" tires

if you have a discount tire www.discounttire.com in your area they may have them, or can get them. a quick search revealed that they have 2 tires in the 13 inch size...one was $49, the other $59 in my area.

Re: 13" tires

I just got a couple if 175/70 13's at the Hoptown Walmart for about $45 each (Douglas brand) a month or two ago. I have bought quite a few Douglas tires over the years and have been happy with their wear considering their low price.

I believe they also still stock 185/80 13's (also Douglas), I bought a few of those about 5-6 years ago (they were $25 at the time), but they are only rated for 35 psi. One ended up with a lump (slipped belt) so now I don't buy anything with a max psi less than 44.

Thanks to both of you. Eric I'll try to find out if Walmart in Hopkinsville still has any 13's or not.

Re: 13" tires

I had to go to a junk yard today to get a transmission cable for my '02 Escort so while I was there I looked to see if I could find any decent 13" tires on any of the junkers. I found a Toyota with two 175/80/13's that were nearly new tires. They didn't even have the little rubber tips that are on new tires worn off yet. I got both tires for $32.and some odd cents including tax, now all I have to do is take them and have them mounted on my Ford wheels and balanced.
