Keep exhaust fumes away from vehicle.

Hi everyone.
I have a 2017 ford explorer, those vehicles have a problem of exhaust fumes somehow getting into the cabin. This usually happens after hard acceleration on highway. ford offered free repairs and tried to find a solution for this, re-sealing the rear of the vehicle, reprograming the HVAC etc, but TMALSS, they failed.

The (presumed) cause of this, is the aerodynamics of the car, causing a swirl effect and low pressure area behind the liftgate, trapping exhaust fumes back there and allowing it to seep into the cabin.

My question for the experts: can I use vortex generators or any other aerodynamic element to effect this? can these exhaust fumes be "pushed" further away from the vehicle?

your advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Hi, I'm no expert on vortex.

However, on my Chev V8 van I had the exhaust pipes exit on the side of the body, just in front of the rear wheels.

Thank you. Interesting idea. In the context of my issue, will there be a difference if it exits in front of the rear wheel or just behind it?

Hi, good question.
My preference is exit in front of rear wheel, thereby no obstruction and quickly dissipate exhaust.
Also suggest you speak with an exhaust specialist, such as Midas.

My uncle is also complaining about the exhaust fumes on his Chevy V8. We'll discuss the routine of the exhaust to the side after it returns from toyo tires installation and alignment.
