2002-2006 Honda odometers not accurate

So this is how Hondas get great mileage? It appears that Hondas in the years 2002-2006 were recording more miles than actual. The odometer is not accurate."If you bought or leased a model year 2002 through 2006 Honda or Acura automobile or a model year 2007 Honda Fit, in the United States or its territories, between April 13, 2002 and November 7, 2006, you may be entitled to receive benefits under a class action settlement.
In compliance with the Court's Order of Preliminary Approval, on February 5, 2006, Honda disclosed that the automatic refunds of lease mileage penalties to be mailed to Class Members later this year totaled $6,100,000.00 as of December 31, 2006. This amount will continue to grow as the parties continue to await final settlement approval from the Court. The average amount to be returned to customers is approximately $265.00."

more info

If you bought or leased a model year 2002 through 2006 Honda or Acura automobile or a model year 2007 Honda Fit, in the United States or its territories, between April 13, 2002 and November 7, 2006, you may be entitled to receive benefits under a class action settlement.

The Honorable T. John Ward, District Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, preliminarily approved the settlement November 7, 2006. The final hearing on the settlement will take place at nine o'clock a.m., May 30, 2007 at the federal courthouse in Marshall, Texas.

Class Counsel for the Plaintiffs have created this website so that class members may access information about the settlement. We have also worked closely with Honda to create and train a staff of customer service representatives to answer your questions about the settlement. If you need to speak to someone on the phone about the settlement, we encourage you to contact the Honda Claims Center at 1-888-888-3082 or visiting www.odosettlementinfo.com.

Basically people are saying the odometers are reading high by up to 4%, so honda is extending the warranty miles by 5%.

I have to wonder how many are aftermarket low profile tire related...

More than just Honda

Most cars I drive show more miles and MPH than actual when compared to the SG or GPS. I hear the gub-ment allows this variance for warranties and mileage.

Ooof.

Even though I'm not a Honda, I could be getting better or worse MPG. Do I really want to know? Yyyyyyyessss, but I don't really want to want to know.

Maybe my wife will get some bucko bucks for her Civic!

Speedometers typically read a bit high to prevent problems getting speeding tickets and such.

I thought odometers were supposed to read accurately though - for obvious reasons.
