Australians not helping

Australia is building the world's largest golf course, some 750 miles long. 18 holes, with each hole in a different town. It would take several days and a lot of gas to play this stupid thing. And here they're the ones with the hole in the ozone over them.

I wish I had the article now, but a few weeks ago some poll in australia listed "global warming" as the number one national threat (above terrorism) in the minds of the people. I wonder how they two ideas go together,

Not to mention fuel to get to OZ....

Golf courses are a huge waste. After fronting the hundreds of dollars for your clubs, you get to pay insane amounts of money to play a round. Couple that with the fact that golf courses destroy the environment that they use, and upkeep on them further destroys surrounding areas, and you have one of the worst sports ever. Then again, people don't come down hard enough on boating. Now THAT is wasteful...

Oh, and Japanese people, who are used to paying $100/round at an AVERAGE golf course definitely WILL be all over that course.

Me? I will stick with my health-promoting, mostly environment-protecting, disc golf.

Actually, this is more about tourism than golf per se. I guess that's kind of like boating but on land. ;-)
