E10 in the UK

When I was a kid people would often pull in at the pump and say "Give me a dollar's worth." or "Give me a couple of dollars worth.". At 27.9c a gallon that would go a day or two easily unless traveling. You couldn't put $10 worth in if you wanted to. Now you almost have to put in $10 just to make it through the day.

Different countries, different habits. The US is a big country and people travel much further than us. To people in the UK, we don't often do long trips, even then 130 miles seems quite far, but 2 to 3 gallons would be enough. That's why there aren't many UK users on fuelly, because constantly adding partial fuel ups wouldn't work. I don't track the fuel on my Audi anymore because it's far too expensive to brim the tank.

I always fill the tank to the top. Have done for the last 40 years. Others say, what's the point of lugging all that unnecessary weight around. It is just what I do.
Filling stations are so few and far between now compared to years ago.
The small town I was brought up in (and lived most of my adult life in) once had four filling stations. Now the nearest one is six miles away.

It's a habit I begun in my Fiat 500 as it had a small fuel tank, although being a small car, the acceleration difference when the warning light came on, due to the lack of weight was very noticeable. I continued that habit with every other car so I could use fuelly, apart from the Audi which is annoying to fill due to rationing, and expensive too...

I compared this habit to smoking. Smokers tend to buy a pack of cigarettes a day, full well knowing they'll have to go back to shop tomorrow and buy another pack. If they were to go to the shop and spend the £80 ($110) a week thier habit costs them, it would somehow seem worse. Putting £25 in the tank several times over still feels better than putting £140 occasionally.

I managed to get petrol today, but at a price. I passed a BP station that had 98 RON Ultimate, and no queues. I filled my tank up.
Price was £1.52/litre ($2.05) - £5.75/US gallon ($7.75) - £6.91/UK gallon ($9.31).
I wouldn't want to run an F150 with gas at that price.

Ouch.....not seen fuel that expensive for a few years. Would have cost me £152 ($205 USD) to fill my Q7...

The worst I've ever suffered was around $4.50 a gallon but that was with FedEx and with fuel surcharge reimbursement plus careful driving to get 15-20% better mileage than the computed rate I was only paying a dollar or just less out of pocket. I think the worst ever at home was around $3 and we may hit that again before too long.

I just filled the Peugeot for only the fourth time this year. I always use high octane (RON 99) or premium for this car as it's a high performance engine and I feel the benefits in such a vehicle.

Luckily, premium is still E5 and not E10, but unluckily, it's also 9 pence a litre more expensive. In fact this is the most expensive I've ever seen fuel locally at £1.519 a litre. This equates to $9.25 per UK gallon. Electric cars seem more appealing by the day...

In this car yes, and this car isn't terrible on fuel considering its performance either.
