But just imagine... on Mars:

Gravity is so much less, so much less rolling resistance
There will be almost no wind resistance
There would be no parasitic drag on the engine, and the exhaust fumes would be expelled into a near-vacuum, possibly allowing turbine type alternator devices for improved energy recovery!

The downside is you would need a mars base, space-suit, and oxygen supply built into the car for fuel

...but those trips back to earth to fill the tank will be the real killers.

www.spritmonitor.de has the following options - besides the L/100 km you see in my signature - available in BBCode:

I assume you have to maintain your gaslog on spritmonitor for that to work.

This sig hack is based (indirectly) on the gassavers gas logs so it requires no duplicate entry of your fuel consumption data if you are already utilizing this log. Part of my motivation was getting more exposure to this standard unit of FE (especially with fuel in the numerator).

I've been using spritmonitor for years!

The 3.9 is slightly rounded up....if you check spritmonitor, you will find that they have 3.89 L/100 for my car, which is more or less 3.875.

Also, I haven't kept the MPG record here up to date, for the reason you cite. So I will delete my consumption record here and just use the US MPG icons from spritmonitor.

I have another car (Peugeot 405 DL) with over 325,000 km of fuel consumption records ar spritmonitor, and I'll be damned if I'm going to re-enter those data here!

I see spritmonitor gives you the total, mileage and fuel consumption. you *could* add one gaslog entry for the sum. Certainly logging on to multiple sites just to maintain your fuel consumption is too much to expect of anyone.

Note there are other options for having your own personal log and updating remote sites en-mass from it, but they are a royal pain in the butt, even for a programmer.
