Odometer reading vs (old) miles traveled

On my previous car I entered miles traveled, gallons and price per gallon tracking my miles with a trip meter. Now, with my new car, suddenly you must enter the odometer. Is there an option to return to the old data form? If not it would be nice if there was.

Yes you can choose either method. Click the car you want to change and click edit vehicle. You can select the method of tracking somewhere there, been a while, but from memory it's pretty near the top. Just remember to save changes at the bottom.

There is an option in the settings for the new car.

Under the blue box which says: You may request a vehicle to be added to Fuelly by filling out this Form, there is the option of Odometer or trip

If you go into your Dashboard page you can change it under Edit Vehicle.
