Suggestion: Other ideas for comparing cars' data

suggestions: Some other idea's on where the site could go, or things that could be done with data that users input.

Suggestion:
I was thinking it would be cool if there were a way to compare cars with similar performance specs on mpg. For example, compare my 175 bhp altima to the ~170 bhp scion tc, etc. See which does better. Or say, my theoretical truck can tow 5000lbs vs. another truck that can tow the same. which is better.

I know this might be getting away from the direction you guys are trying to take the site, but it also might be cool if one could add other performance specs like 0-60 mph times. This way say I'm a person who cares about the environment (and my wallet) but I also want a car that can move and handles well. This way I could find the best performance car for the best mpg.

Another idea would be to average all users with similar cars gas mileage as a way to compare with the suggested mpg. Potentially down the line there could be some form of sponsorship with kbb, or some other sites that pulls real data from real people from this site. Potentially this could be added to include maintenance costs of different cars in different legs of their lives. So this way we could really see if VW makes good cars for....3-5 years, then after that they start becoming an expensive car.

Also....could you guys make a suggestions forum?

What about data related to what areas of the country drivers are in?

Here's something simple: could you add an option which would let me record fuel that I put in but that doesn't entirely fill the tank (eg. when I only have $20 on me)?

The math for calculating MPG doesn't get much more complicated; you just take the next time the tank is full and add that mileage and fuel amount to those from the partial fill. I probably didn't explain it too well, but I'm sure the programmers can figure it out

I'd like to see few things, in order of importance (to me of course).

1. I'd like to be able to add the fuel station I filled up at to get a historical data on both the MPG I got from that station and the price paid over time.

1a. google or yahoo maps mashup that can show me the location of stations others have used and allow long term comparisons of "other" stations and the one I use most.

2. Tracking of the weather at the time that the "driving" was done.

3. This might be to much to do, but again a mashup of google maps (or yahoo) of my daily commute and traffic conditions.

1. Allow me to leave a comment or question for a particular user: "nice job", "how'd you get 40mpg on 7/8 when you're typical mileage is 30?" "man, your mileage stinks", etc.

2. Put in a counter so I know how many people are looking at my page. I'm not really putting in the data for myself; I already track my mileage. I want to know people are looking.

3. Agree w/ cdzombak on the non-fill-up. My best miles per tank shows some high amount b/c I had to add $20 once, but it wasn't a fill-up. I figured that in to the next fill up, but I didn't get 580 on that tankful.

Allow people to comment on the "TIPS" being presented by other site users because some of them may be bogus.

stations data/googlemap mashup: great

also: gasoline types (95/98/what have you)

um - gasoline brands? That would add data point in keeping track of the market, too. Perhaps too many data points.

and - puh-leeze: european cars
