TV's out of the box are usually set for display use. To be bright and colorful to catch a shopper's eye. They need to be toned down for home use.

If that's true, good point. They'd be setup to look good under fluorescent tube lights, not incandescent or incandescent-colored CFL.

I've always found flat-screen TVs to be kind of annoying for watching anything fast moving. Looks like a lot of the same artifacts you get watching things online with only a moderately fast connection.
