Found on Craigslist: 3 cylinder Chevy Sprint Turbo

Not my ad, don't know the seller, just saw it and thought it might be interesting (if way overpriced) for someone here.

Up for sale is a 1988 Chevy Sprint turbo. It has a clean title and has just been smogged with numbers comparable to a hybrid or a ULEV (ultra low emissions vehicle) This little gas sipper will get anywhere between 36-42 mpg with the dependable 3 cylinder engine. The car has never been modified, it runs and drives well and has a bit more power then you would expect from such a small vehicle.

The following has been replaced in the last few months..

-New catalytic converter
-New iridium spark plugs and wires
-New cap/rotor

It has an uncommonly low 92k original miles and it shows. I have many, many maintenance and repair records from the original owner as well as the original owner's manual and original key. There is no rust on the car as one would expect from a CA car. The car stays maintained and garaged at all times. This sprint has it's share of quirks but is also a fairly clean, highly sought-after, collectible daily driver. I have many more pics if needed. Please be respectful when calling. I will not entertain lowball offers. I'm asking $4200 obo. Mike 916 912 8971

I am mainly interested in cash offers but will listen to trade offers of equal value for the following. I could add cash for the right trade..

Honda, Toyota or Acura (Must be clean title, under 150k miles, smogged and clean)
4runner
Quad
Ultralight airplane
Snowmobile
Motorcycle
Gold
Or ????

Ooh, I would love that car, but for all the wrong reasons, lol.

Hope someone picks it up and has some fun with it.

Ditto. Plus the looks on peoples faces when my 6-4 240lb self unfolds from it. and so I can park crooked and lift it by the bumper to straighten it.

Google Images has failed me, but I immediately thought of the Hightower character in Police Academy ripping the front seat out of a subcompact car so he could drive from the back seat...and later lifting a car up to flip it over.

Re: Found on Craigslist: 3 cylinder Chevy Sprint Turbo

I think the guy is dreaming if he thinks he can sell a 1988 car for $4200.00.

heck. I paid $3600 for a 1999 Honda Civic EX (133,000) about 1 1/2 yrs ago.

Just spotted this gem on ME CL:

Not bad for an aspire. Probably not worth a grand, but what do I know. If you live near berwick, it's for you!

Shouldn't that Aspire do much better than 33mpg? Is something wrong with the car or the driver (and if something's wrong with the driver then how beat is the car)...

Well, EPA rating is 29/33/38.

Re: Found on Craigslist: 3 cylinder Chevy Sprint Turbo

His add says he is "upgrading to a van." I suspect his concern for all things FE are limited.
I suppose with mechanical/maintenance problems it could do 33 with an average non hypermiler. He probably doesn't know the vehicle's potential. Then again, he probably doesn't need a commuter either.
