From Vipers to Miatas

Hey, I've been using this site for a while, never looked at the forum, I've been tracking most of the cars I've had, I change vehicles quite often so it makes for an interesting comparison.

My mileage has been all over the place.

Current:
2016 Ducati 959 Panigale (Summer Daily Driver): 42 mpg
2005 Ford F-150 (Abused mule): 13 mpg

Past:
2012 Mercedes C63: 19 mpg
2006 BMW Z4M: 20.8 mpg
1999 Mazda Miata: 25.4 mpg
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee: 15.8 mpg
2006 VW Golf: 37 mpg
2001 Porsche 911 Turbo (modified): 16.2 mpg
2008 Mercedes C63: 19 mpg
1989 Porsche 911 C4: 19 mpg
2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10: 16.9 mpg
2002 Jeep TJ: 14.3 mpg
2012 Dodge Ram: 14 mpg

I'm building a Ford 302 powered BMW E30 right now so that should be interesting fuel economy, I don't know if it will be good or bad, the car will weigh slightly above 2000lbs but that old Ford motor is very inefficient. I should run a poll.

Yikes, almost everything under 20mpg. Good luck with your current project.

Cody watch out before you get attacked by the hyper-milers LOL

But seriously I would remove the Miata from the list

Very cool. I'm pretty surprised the Viper could get 17MPG unless you were nursing it.

And seriously, who nurses a Viper?

The Viper can get in the 20's on the highway with the right foot. I know a few lambos in the mid 20's in cruise mode. I've got a few buddies that astound me though. One has a Hellcat Challenger and showed me a 28 MPG on the evic. Another with a C6 Z06 (427ci 7.0l) gets in the 30's on the highway babying it.

My Crx hf hit a best of 57, my CRX dx was around 44. My '98 Trans Am LS1 hit 22, '78 Monza with a 383, T56 and a 3.89 9" 12. My current '00 4.7l Grand Cherokee was hitting 18-24 with 70% highway, now in town with a 2" lift and 265/70/16 it gets 12. 4.88 gears are on the way for it so maybe it'll help. Chevy Lumina with a built 3.4l was around 25 mpg. '96 Cherokee 4.0 was 20 flat. Everywhere. My wife's 94 Ranger was the same. Her current Tribute 2.3l will hit in the 30's on the highway.

Haha, thanks. I'm somewhere close to 60 vehicles now but most of them were not very nice, just a couple diamonds in the rough.

I hope to improve that, I like VW diesels so I'll probably buy a sub-$5,000 Jetta TDI and daily drive that instead of my old truck.

I honestly have never had a heavy foot but I've also never bothered trying to get great fuel economy out of the performance cars. I'm at a point now though with driving my kids around that I'm sick of buying fuel.

I think with the Viper it was a lot of highway miles because I live in a small town, in sixth gear at highway speed it is barely off of idle so it just lopes around getting 20 MPG. The occasional press of the loud pedal and the numbers drop quick. That's why my 911tt had such bad fuel economy, probably stock being babied it would have been much higher.

The Vette's are incredible for their fuel economy for what they are capable of, I just have never wanted one. I'll drive a slow Viper before a fast Vette, haha.
