Howdy all!

Hi guys,
I'm new here but have been reading your forum for a couple of weeks.
I was researching how to get better fuel economy with my 95 camaro
so I can drive it back and forth to work and I came accross your forums from
a GooGle search.
I have now decided to improve the FE of my civic instead of working on
the chevy. The chevy will have to wait until the civic reaches it's goals.
The goals are to be determined based on the cash available.
I have always checked my mpg at each fillup. The civic was getting 37-40
mpg depending on how much city driving and what highway speeds I traveled.
I have started driving more efficiently, coasting, and aired up my tires a bit
more. These things brought me to 44.5mpg. I put a grille block on and pulled
the top of the airbox off to get a little warmer air at the filter. These 2 things
have got me to 46.62 on my last tank that was 25% non-highway, and the 2
quick mods were only used on the last half tank.
My 86 ninja zx600 gets 54mpg(90% highway) if I can stay at the speed limits.
Thank you all for the extra mpgs I have attained from reading your forum.
I look forward to many more in the near future.

sipnciv -

Welcome to GS! 46.62 MPG? Sounds like your hitting the ground running. What year is the Civic? Is it a manual or automatic?

Thanks guys,
The camaro is a convertible, v6 and gets 30 mpg highway. It's not a total pig, we just cruise in the country once every week or so with the top down.
The civic is a 97 sedan, lx with a 5 speed manual. I haven't done the EOC
and don't plan to, but may in the future.

Drive the Camaro enough so that it stays roadworthy and has the occasional longer trip. and use the Civic at other times and the whole crap season where the Camaro should be put away if you want to keep it a long time.
