Mazda3 S Touring

I got rid of the Civic this evening. All four inner door seals failed today and something broke in the rear end of the car. Sounded like someone with a hammer was beating on the underside of the trunk. It had to go.

I ended up getting a Mazda3 S Touring 5MT. On the 40 mile drive home I got 44 mpg. A drive around town with the wife lowered the tank to 42.8 mpg. I should be able to get near Civic class mpg out of this car.

psy, when a guy gets as sick of a car as you have been lately, it's time for a change. I've heard good things about your new car.

What engine did you get? Engine features? RPM at 60? Weight? Picture???

Mileage is great for a brand new car. It's a good sign when the wife can come within a couple mpg of you. That would not happen here unless the car did it by itself.

They were rotting out. I opened the drivers door to get in and the inner seal fell apart. When i checked the other three doors. They were all rotten with splits along there compression lines. Then it just went down hill from there.

Its a 2.3L I4. It has Mazda's variable valve stuff. Its more for performance driving. Say like vtec in a Si or a Honda v6. Its not like the vtec in the Civic R-18 or even the k24 in the wifes Accord. Its not as advanced as some of Honda's stuff. It is a dohc unit. It does have electric assist hydraulic power steering. Im going to have to look into the power steering a bit more to see how this works. The steering is pretty light when fas'ing. It appears to be geared alot like the Civic was. I will know more today about this today. As far as weight its more than the Civic. Heck its a bit larger than the Civic. Really slots in between the Civic and the Accord. I think weight is 2889. Ive seen diff numbers. I will need to get the book out and look it up. I haven't had time to read the owners manual cover to cover yet. I should start that task this evening. ( yes I do read the books in the glove box ) and there are afew pics up on the car.
