Welcome to GS! As diamondlarry says, the ScanGauge will get you going bigtime. 1996 was the first year that the OBDII protocol became mandatory, so your Windstar will be compatible. Are you optimizing your kid-trips to keep the engine warm? What are your typical commutes?

Well my trips are mostly hyway. About 20miles each way, and only about 4/5 of that not hyway.
