Ram pickup witth 3.21 rear end

My name is Fred I have a 2013 Ram pickup extended cab 4X4 with v-6 gas engine and 3.55 rear end
I am thinking of getting a new Ram with either a v -6 diesel with 3.55 rear end
or v-6 gas with 3.21 rear end
Does anybody have experience with gas mileage for a Ram v-6 gas with 3.21 rear end
I am really interested in finding out if a 3.21 rear end makes a difference in gas mileage
Any help would be appreciated
Thank You

It will make a difference, but how much is a hard to answer question. Most official testing is only with the most common installed equipment. So finding the difference relies on user reports.

Ford did test the new F150 with higher GVWR separately. I don't know the equipment differences, but it is a safe assumption the rear ends are different. It is a one to two MPG difference, with the bigger one going to the larger engine.

The Ram 1500 HFE will likely have the shortest rear end, and it does get a little better than the non high efficiency model. The HFE isn't available in 4WD for direct comparison though.

Using a gear calculator like this, Gear Ratio Calculator, could shed better light by comparing the engine rpms at certain speeds.

Only a small percentage of fuelly users use the forum, best thing to do, as tedious as it may be, is to look through the fuelly data and see if you find your data you're looking for. You can at least narrow your search by filtering year, model, transmission, engine etc.
