I also have a 1999 honda crv the best mpg I have gotten was 20 to 22 hwy and in the city about 18 . If you got 32 mpg I should be able to do that to would a k&n or a ramair do the same thing with all the different things you have done what does your car sound like. My car has 149000. What you think what is your latest mpg

Re: 32 MPG 1999 Honda CRV Project Daddy Wagon

I googled: 1999 Honda CRV MPG
Among others I got: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/21607.shtml

20-22 MPG is right in there.

New 'High MPG' tires will make a bit of an improvement and using good synthetic lubricants might give a tad better but there is probably nothing that will make any significant MPG improvement.

Im confused exactly what questions you are asking because of your punctuation, but ill try to answer what i think youre asking

My last tank average 28 mpg's. I live in a very mountainous area so i rarely am driving on flat ground. If you live somewhere other than the mountains, its going to be hard to coast long distances

Learn how to hyper mile. I coast for 3/4 of my drive everywhere in town. Drive slow and shut the car off at long stop lights. Its simple.

No modification to a CRV will give you a higher gain than changing the way you drive.

My CRV is a 5 speed, not an automatic so it is probably a lot easier for me to coast in neutral that someone driving an auto crv.

I would stay away from a ram air intake with an aluminum tube. The aluminum is a giant heat sink and pulls hot air into your engine. You do not want this, you want cold air instead. Stick with the stock intake tubing.

My car is not loud, but sounds pretty much stock. i think that is what you are asking. I never intended for it to make noise like a rice burner with a loud intake and exhaust.

my crv has 160k on it and runs fine hitting 30 mpgs regularly on trips into pittsburgh from my house.

It'll help if you calculate 'average' miles per gallon.
None of us can always 'top off' the same and, sometimes you'll have a calculation that is absolutely bizarre, but averaging will take care of it.

Divide the number of gallons into the miles traveled, I write the total odometer mileage and the results on the pump receipt,
so I always have a messy pile of them right there, handy in the console.

Re: 32 MPG 1999 Honda CRV Project Daddy Wagon

Just came across your thread. I have a 1999 CRV 5 spd. I live in Florida. In town and at low constant speed I can squeeze 30 - 30+ not much more. (Coast and glide.) On I95 I travel 30 miles up to Cocoa every day at 80-85 mph and get 25 consistently. I haven't done any tricks yet but thanks for all the ideas. I have always run maximum pressure in my tires. I sure would like to see the 425 miles per tank full again but when traveling I95 rather than having to squeeze the MPG driving slower speeds (40-50). I guess the K&M air filter is the best starter.
