How come I have to cross a pond 8000 miles away from the source to start hearing it?

Montana has no speed limit roads, you drive too fast they nail you for reckless driving.
So how is that 'no speed limit?'
Oh, I get it, no signs!
Ok, so because I see no signs it means drive as fast as it will go...
Or does it?
But at least you can ask Montana folks, and you might hear them talk about it.

Driving a car is about control.
Unlike what that might imply control is not about how well you can handle the car at high speeds. Because there is no such thing when all it takes is stomping the pedal and holding the wheel, hence control is about not doing it.

By the way...
They can throw you in jail for that, 30 days, 1,000 dollar fine, suspended license.
Sadly, technically speaking that's doing the driver a favor.
What if they had lost control?
Either the trees in the median stop you...
Or you spin into oncoming traffic...
lol around here roads arent marked but the rules of the road say that any unmarked country road is 55mph. residential (within city limits) is 25mph. might just be one of those understood type of things...helps to know other states rules (most are same but some are odd) like certian states you cant turn right on red.

Topped out my 02 VW GTI Turbo at 167, on the track of course. Don't have the balls to run that fast around teenagers and 85 year old asian ladies.

Ever since I started to care about mpg I have never exceeded 80mph. Most of the times I have been in the 70s I was going down a slight hill.

On my snowboard? Maybe about 50mph, give or take. It sure felt about that fast anyways...

On my personal water craft? Maybe around 70mph... again, it sure felt that way. Speedometer died early on that thing, but it was rated for about 70mph, so I figure it was capable of that.

In a car of my own? Maybe about 80mph.

I once drove my buddy's modded WRX (faster than a stock STI), and boy that thing was scary fast. Got it up to 90mph on a short stretch of road. Boy, that huge *** turbo would spool up and when you hit 3500 rpms, it was GO TIME! I swear I could almost hear the tires let out a chirp when that thing finally kicked in.

So there you have it, short of flying in an airplane, I have never been going faster than 100mph... that I can remember.

Its funny - there are young guys on Scion Life chat group that put turbos in their Scion tC and have problems with the speed limiter kicking in at 112 when it is supposed to kick in at 118 or so. So I tell them to jack up the front wheels and spin them up to speed with the engine and see when the limiter kicks in . . . and they are afraid to because they think the car will jump off the blocks yet they will take it out on the road and max it out.
The xB is supposed to max out at about 106mph stock but from the way mine got up to about 96mph at half throttle one night I think it could go a lot faster than 106mph probably from the synlube reducing the friction and getting more HP out of the engine and through the tranny to the wheels than a stock xB.
