The 2005 Aveo has a .35 Cd, the same as the Scion Xb. The Aveo has a frontal area about 20.5 square feet, while the Xb about 23.5 square feet(Estimated from width times height times .8).

The 2005 Aveo has a curb weight about 2,350 lbs, while the Scion Xb about 2,400 lbs. Not much difference there.

I'd chalk the small differences up to the speed at which the vehicles were driven and to Toyota's engines being slightly more efficient.

The engines are very close in size, 1.5-1.6 liters.

Why does the xB beat the Aveo?
Better engineering woot woot.

The Aveo is supposed to get 1 more highway mpg than the Xb. It looses this advantage around town by a surprising 4 epa mpg

DOH, that is supposed to be 34 highway mpg for the xb
