Diesel is something I would go for, but I'm not doing enough mileage so the engine may break before it should :/
Now I have a Skoda Fabia from 2009, doing mostly shorter distances, 15 minute drives, once a week a 30m drive over highways.
Also take the vehicle on short holidays with 2hour drives.

This is a difficult analysis....

Perhaps a large car with a small petrol engine would suit you. Ford, Fiat, Renault all have 900cc turbocharged engines in some models. They have a fair bit torque and power when you need it and are just as happy on the highways as they are around town. If you're happy with the Skoda, VW also do the 1.2 TSI with 105 BHP available in many VW's, Seats, Skodas etc.

Thanks for the advice
I'm looking at the new Dacia Logan who has a new engine that doesn't consume as much anymore.
Prob of course is the acquisition cost minus selling the Fabia....
Maybe I should wait until the new Logan is available on the used cars market at more affordable prices.

Yes Dacia launched in the UK last year, been a huge success so far. The logan has Renault's 0.9 litre too which is a great engine.
