Hit a wall

So I was trying my best today and drove 170 miles as best as I could on big rolling hills in central NY. I used lots of DWL, and watching TPS and iMPG readings. I got 34mpg, which was 1.05% better than the last tank. I also finally got a chance to calibrate it a little more. But after 1000 miles of hypermiling, my average is 33.2mpg which I guess is ok for the car. I really don't know what else I can do to improve it more... except EOC which got me a tank of 35mpg on the highway with insane 13 mile hills and great opportunities to EOC. maybe that's the next step, but I still worry about that being bad for the automatic

Just keep it up i was thinking the same when i would ALWAYS be 29 somthing never able to break 30 but now im really mad if i get 35. For only being on this site since July is pretty damn good but it will take a little more time to fine tune your #'s so just keep working on it.

EOC would definitly boost that, but I'm unsure about the automatic thing too. For me its easy to figure out, every 8 miles EOC'd equals 1mpg gained (if I would run the tank till it was empty). It's easy to rack up miles fast.

Either way, good job getting where you are...

GeekGuyAndy -

Maybe you are ready for the realm of aero mods. A nibble hear and there to get the Cd down.

I vote no EOC. Be nice to your automatic.

EDIT : Oh, I see you are working on a boattail in your garage.

So maybe next time try it with P&G? Tougher with the automatic... Do you have roof racks?

Hockey,

I liked looking at your gaslog, it shows that you were fairly steady for a while under 30, and then started to improve a lot. I guess I am still learning more, but my mileage actually went down since I haven't been using EOC much. My 35mpg tank was heavy on EOC, but I barely tried EOC, and my DWL was still too fast.

Bill, lost the roof racks early on.

Cfg, I think tht grill block is calling my name. I think a few aeros would help, but I also stay slow all the time now. My best mileage is at 48mph in 4th it seems (highest gear / lowest rpms), so I try not to go faster than 50 unless the gravity makes me

i was starting to get desprate and i needed to get better #s so i wasent a 30% over epa anymore so i started p&g more and more and im still fine tuneing it. I set goals which really helps to get there first was 35 which seemed so hard now i get it without trying 40 is harder which i had to use eoc to get it now im trying to 40 without eoc and 45 with it adn so on. you will get there if you just stick with it.
