One crack led to another...

Hello everyone!

I always try to refrain from asking dumb questions, however I am now in need of some advice. Some months ago I noticed a small crack in my windshield. It was just a small crack and the base of the windshield so it wasn't really in my way. I kept driving and then in about two months I saw the crack went up and was almost at the height of my eyes. So one thing led to another and now I have to replace the windshield... And I cannot seem to wrap my head around whether to go with an OEM or some sort of aftermarket. There are different opinions on this and I have been reading online things like https://www.carwindshields.info/oem-vs-aftermarket but it does not tell me anything concrete. It seems like I will have to go about asking around but if anyone has any idea I will love it!!

Thanks!!!

I use Safelite for windshield work. I tell them what car and they bring the windshield. I don't know what it is, oem or not, and don't care as they always do a good job and last as long as the car barring another mishap.

Difficult to give advice without knowing what car.

For most models, it won't matter. With advanced drivers aids, recalibrating windshield cameras might be an issue with third party. Then some windshields could have sensors embedded in them, that might mean OEM is a better choice.

My friend is looking to get the Safelite service as well. Good to hear it is recommended here.
