A CRX HF would be really sweet. Actually, I was very surprised that you can get insights for so cheap ($8k USD)! And its a car designed for FE, so it would be a safe bet that they would be driven relatively carefully. I heard bad things about the battery though.

I just had my battery replaced in my Insight a few weeks ago. Total cost out of pocket was $0. Honda has been backing the Insights pretty well so I wouldn't be scared of them. Of course there's that "one guy" who has had a ton of problems but we won't get into that. Mine has been a relatively trouble free car over 25,000+ miles in a year and a half, oh did I mention I let it sit for 3 months too! It's a Honda with Honda quality.

Still, I really want to find that elusive Chevette Diesel (it has an Izuzu engine). I've only found one and it was a rust bucket. If I found one it'd be swapped over to SVO and I'd be a happy camper.

There is guy in my town that has a rust free Chevette Diesel, next time I see it I will try to take picture of it.

That would be awesome!! The Chevette diesel is my favorite.

A cool non-production FE car I've seen is a VW diesel. I know, people say VW makes diesels. This was a '68 Bug with a Kubota 3cyl Diesel in it. The guy drove it like any other car and got 50+ mpg in it. This was in my town 20 years ago though, he was one of my father's customers at his auto parts store.
