Better yet do the cost of operation including the purchase and then break it down to how much a year a car costs to operate and own and don't forget the big gas suckers also use more oil for an oil change.

Also, the bigger tires cost a lot more, you can get 13's for real cheap, but try to find a cheap SUV tire, there not out there.

Something else to add which won't help your case any would be that their is no silver bullet(but this will keep them from getting ripped off) when it comes to saving gas. That's it a combination of things.

Yeah Factor in the tires of course - the Geo was good for 100,000 miles on the rear tires if you didn't rotate them and the fronts were good for 50-60k.
I think some of the taller tires end up lasting about 90k for trucks which I found interesting.
SUV's with automatics tend to go through brakes pretty quick also.

Global warming due to CO2 is a bunch of overhyped crap. The Earth has been warming for over 10,000 years, i.e. before we burned the first gram of fossil fuel. The chief warming cause is likely to be some astronomical phenomenon, such as a change in solar heat output, Earth's precession on its axis, or a change in Earth's perihelion and/or oblateness of its orbit.

If this is true, there is a cyclic pattern to earth temperature, and we're due for Global Cooling and another Ice Age in just a few thousand years.

That being said, Al Gore may wind up being an useful idiot with his movie. To wit: The real threat to Civilization is the oil money that funds radical Islam. Anything that we do to shut off the flow of oil money to the Saudis and Iranians will enhance world peace.

Hi Sludgy -¨Global warming due to CO2 is a bunch of overhyped crap¨

Ime not qualified to give any for or against on that statement.
Maybe it is true , maybe not.

But , for sure , polution of all sorts should be minimalised , whether it be auto emissions or old PC's going into landfill.
They call polution ¨polution¨ because it polutes , and polution is a not a good thing.

As soon as any viable alternative to a poluting process is discovered it should be adopted whether or not it is seen to be doing gross damage to the environment.

I only see 1 earth here , and if it gets damaged I dont see a backup plan.

Man I sound like a hippie.

Our cars polution does contribute and so does the methane coming out fo the cows ***, but what more than likely happening is that the polar caps are about to switch and well to successfully change possitions the atmosphere cannot be here. For one reason cause once the magnetic poles start to move the gravitational forces of this world is going to go nuts and will most likely rip the atmosphere aparts by itself. This is why nature kills the atmosphere itself naturally so that not everthing will die. Yes I'm a cynacal mad scientist newage hippie or what ever those critic call people like me.(not a scientologist) And back on subject, I want to get one of those LED scrolling script things in my back windows and have it constantly display fuel consumptions and some other subliminal messages.
