well ive got a car wit no power, so flooring doesnt do much :P
and isnt there a bolt on the floor, behind the accelerator pedal that stops it from hitting the wall? unscrew it? (ive got one on my car)

I've done this and it works very well....no safety issues either. I used some wire and an extra spring set up so that at a certain point the extra spring was in the mix.

Just be sure you have no binding of the throttle though.
