Semi vs. Semi

It doesn't matter what you drive -- an impact is an impact. It could be a Semi vs. another Semi and you'd have catastrophe.

I'm glad MikeT and BeeUU offered-up some good photo counter-evidence to the cause -- thanks guys.

...and 'Clench, you're right as usual. People don't listen.

I don't know the exact number, but I think that something like 90% of the safety of a car lies in the driver's hands. So it's mostly up to you.

SUV vs SUV

There was an SUV vs SUV head-on at the same location as the picture above, a Suburbam and an Explorer. I can't find the pictures anymore, needless to say the Suburban lost a passenger. Further proof of "an impact is an impact". Plus most of the SUV's out there where never designed for impact/roll protection, that was designed and/or legislated only in the latest generation. Safe?...."you bet - just look how big it is.....you will drive right over those little cars.....and it holds 15 people too....." Joe Isuzu :D

Hey, that car looks familiar...

BeeUU 03-14-2007 07:47 PM

Hey

That is why there are so many of them around, they just dont seem to quit, or get smashed, or rust or use fuel. The perfect car? :D

Getting back to real crash testing, here are some Mercedes-Benz/smart tests from 2004.

smart car versus an 1800 kg Mercedes-Benz E-Class, at 100 km/h (62.1 MPH) closing speed, offset head on.
