Leveling Off

Just filled up again --- 48.74mpg ---
Best tank yet, but JUST edged out last tank's numbers.

Looks like my MPG is leveling off...
Going to see what choroplast I have left over from the XFi.
Want to get the rear under panel tray on today if possible.

Have been on vacation

I took a quick vacation to Yellowstone Park the past 4-days (awesome trip) -- so I haven't had a chance to compile the data. On the flights out and back, I did have the chance to develop a spreadsheet to plug the numbers in from last week. (...and I have an interesting SUV hypermiling experience, but that's another story for later)...

I expect to have the competition's weekly results calc'd by tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.

When I get the chance, anyone who has sent a PM with questions or team info will be addressed -- if there was a deadline for the 3-week submission mark for new teams or members, the timestamp of the PM will count -- so no worries...

Work has me travelling early tomorrow morning, so I need to re-pack/prepare for another trip. Have a good one...

Latest tank - my first 'real' tank with SuperMID. Was composed of mainly short journeys, but also had a motorway section, and driving through the Lake District.

Miles : 457.4, 9.221 US gallons : 49.6MPGus :D

This is my best tank ever, by a huge margin (I'm not counting the last 52MPG tank, as that was only 100 miles, so was a bit (but not too) inaccurate).

Go GasMisers 5!

Way to go, landspeed. Sounds like all your wrassling with the SuperMid was worth the effort.

Did your pump fill correlate well with SuperMid indicated gallons used?

Get that block heater fixed. Don't know about you, but we are still having 30F degree mornings here.

landspeed 06-06-2007 07:59 AM

The SuperMID is uncalibrated... But I just did 'beat the numbers for each journey, get a little better each time :) '

I have mucked up the numbers on my SuperMID so will have to start again. This will start this evening :)

The block heater would make a big difference - I may well have a go at fixing it after this weekend.

I filled up today and used 9.321 gallons and travelled 669.8 miles for 71.8 mpg.

73mpg (447.1 miles, 6.1gal) Based on the results from the SuperMID, I am averaging 100mpg (42km/l) while DWL on level roads at speeds from 30 to 65mph when temps are in the 80's F, but any sort of urban driving steadily reduces the tank average. The hand throttle has been a great help in getting better mileage at lower speeds where the throttle/mpg sensitivity gets very delicate. Altitude also helps, as I can get somewhat better mileage at 2000ft on I-26 in the NC mountains than I can at similar speeds and temps at 700 ft in the SC upstate (I wonder what sort of mileage I would get if I were driving at 10,000 feet). I have a steep 800 foot climb up into the NC mountains on my way to work and I am only getting about 1/2 of the energy back via FAS coasting that I put into elevation gain while climbing up the mountain. The rest is lost via engine and friction braking. This tank had more urban driving than I usually do.

26.27 mpg
12.854 gal
337.7 gals

Not great. Lots of AC use.

rvanengen 06-10-2007 11:34 AM

My numbers for this week are:

161.5 miles, 5.93 gallons, 27.23 mpg (lots of AC use), or 3.8% above 90 day average, and 36% above combined EPA. I guess that isn't bad since I have done a lot of "in a hurry" driving with the AC on. ;)

Two Tanks. One highway, and one city.
185.8 miles 4.806 gallons 38.66 mpg
285.3 miles 5.562 gallons 51.29 mpg
