It doesn't matter what the car looks like. The thief wants the parts.

Cover your plate when posting pics, unless you want to get it stolen.

edit: sorry for coming off so hard but don't show your plates online.

I know about the whole showing-the-plates thing, but I only do that on nicer cars. Someone from gassavers is not going to drive down and steal my unlocked-with-nothing-in-it $190 civic. If anything, it'll be someone who walks past it parked in a parking ramp or something. And I can't really cover the plates then.

It costs like 50 bucks for the dmv to look up the plates, and then driving two states away or flying or something, then trying to find a place to store the car where it won't be found, etc. isn't really worth 190 bucks to anybody.

I know what you said about "wanting the parts," but there's no real parts to want on here. The body is rusted and bent, the seats are broken, the interior is cracked, the back bumper is broken, the hatch is dented and rusted, older civic auto trannys don't sell for anything anyway, etc. The only parts that are slightly desirable are the windows, and only the back three are original.

There's usually nothing in this car, not even a backseat (so I don't have to give friends rides) It has a stock cassette player, even. Madison's not that bad, but it's getting worse. Sometimes the only way to not get bent out of shape when someone messes with something is to not have anything nice looking.

Update. Upgraded my current alarm a little better.

I never did understand the whole idea of not making your license plate public, why should anyone care if you know someone's plate number? I can walk down the street and find all kinds of plate numbers, walk in to a buissness, and listen for a few seconds and find out all kinds of things about someone, so why would someone spend money to find out who someone is just from their plate number???

yep definately think the plate thing is stupid...

i mean...if you think theives are looking for a car online....
what attracts them to the car...i'm 99.99999% sure its not the license plate
however that can be helpful if you stupid online and talk about your personal life...
in which case covering up your license plate is a fairly illogical shield against theft or thieves...
when they can just go read some of your past posts and see that you bought parts from so and so shop and that you live and work here or there...
and lo and behold they got you...
