man how do you guys pull

man how do you guys pull such high numbers? Under acceleration I'm always floating around 19 to 30 mpg and coasting with the engine off only brings that average to 35 ish (the law of averages really hurts). I guess I really have to work on my acceleration but at anytime my revs are under 2000 rpms my MPG suffers a lot due to lack of torque and pressing down the pedal does not help at all...

pressing it lightly will bring it up but mpg but rpms will hover around 1500 and overall mpg suffers even more, espically when I'm at a stop sign and i decided to go through it in 2nd, its almost if 2nd eats more gas than 1st most of the time. (as i'm bringing up revs from 1000 to 2500 so that i can shift to 3rd gear)

and for those with scanguages how the HELL do i see instant MPG and average MPG at the same time? With only being able to see one or another unless I press a few buttons is abusrd!!!!!!!!!!!

what are your shift points? say on a flat road and when you come to a stop sign do you prefer to stop completely or have a little bit of momentum and start in 2nd and lug for a bit till rpms reach to an acceptable level to shift into 3rd?

On flat roads I go 1st and

On flat roads I go 1st and 2nd up to 2000 and then 5th at about 1000, 25 MPH. Then accel to 35. Instantaneous FE during light 5th gear accelleration is 40-50.

Hill climbing a gradual slope I am in 5th at 1200, holding 32 mph steady, instantaneous FE is 45 . Moderate hill climbing at 4th 1500, holding 32 mph steady, instantaneous is 30. Severe hill climbing in 4th 1500 bleed down to 1000 then 3rd, hold 30mph, instantaneous is 20ish. I am in 5th 90-95% of the time when I drive. At idle in 5th gear, I can hold 20 MPH on a flat road, instantaneous about 100 MPG.

At 2200 lbs, it doesn't take much torque to accelerate or to hold speed. The only time I go over 2000 is when I have to go over 50 mPH. When I get the CX tranny installed, I will never have to go over 2000. :)

Speaking of CX trannies, I

Speaking of CX trannies, I need to call that guy back. I'll prolly bogart the head for myself unless I can find me a d15z1 in time, in which case, it's all yours.

Finally broke over the 50 mark on a tank...onward to 55 :)

Is the IM/TB still connected to the head? It would be great to get the it all assembled.

The IM/TB is connected to the head in my car, :p

I'm still trying to get a straight answer out of this one semi-local guy with a complete set up.

Yeah, its hard to get people

Yeah, its hard to get people to respond when you get everything for free. What is the incentive? :)

Well, this im/tb is for you and you'll be paying for it, so don't go crazy over there, :p

I think I can get it for 25 shipped with all sensors and injectors and all that good ish.

I don't have a Scangauge or

I don't have a Scangauge or a tach so I can't give as much specific detail, but I keep the RPM's low and shift into the next gear just above its lugging speed, shift pattern is 1st,2nd,3rd,5th (5th is unusable below 28mph), do a rolling stop lugging in 2nd when possible, hill climb around 35 mph, shut off the engine whenever I am coasting for at least 8 sec., accelerate fairly gradually (0 to 60mph in about 20 sec), never floor the throttle but accelerate at 75% throttle when I do need to scoot, minimum use of brakes (including engine braking), let speed decay via coasting, maintain as much speed through the curves as is safe (goes along with minimum use of brakes), driving with load, let speed decay as you go up moderate hills (regain it on the other side), and then of course all of the usual stuff like keeping track of upcoming red lights and traffic to avoid having to use the brakes.
