tigra aero mods

now I post my pictures of self aeromods.

First modification include rear underbody with a preliminar extractor with 0,4? degree of inclination, and two cover for the fuel tank.
The used material of extractor, it is the high density polyurethane (bad for the muffler high temperature ) to need to change with fiberglass in next time.
For the tank fuel cover, I've used the polycarbonate about 1,5cm thickness.

this is the pics of under rear car previous modification:
you can see the bad design, the flow of the air, recirculates and blinks against the posterior bridge

.

Yesterday, I have constructed front cover and the front deviators like the DRW Job (my mentor https://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=2381:) )

For the moment, I have only cut the materials, but this evening I will make the installation

the photos, includes the front engine cover with space for the hot air escape, and preliminary front air deviator for the wheels

the air deviator

excused boys, a question: which name given to the flow shunters?

you have of the councils give give to me?
an example: now, the front cover, is parallel to ground, but most cars, it have this cover with an angled inclination like this

On the rear, you may want to consider using a more flexible material and tucking it inside the rear bumper to give more complete coverage and smoother air flow under the rear.

Thanks for the writeup! It seems that this aero mod is one of the most common recommendations aside from a grille block. Keep going with the installation and good documentation on what you're doing, and of course the results you find. The more examples we see the better we all will get at doing this in the future.
Don't worry about your english, you're doing fine. Anyone who actively learns another language is better than most. Keep up the good work.

I have thought to extend the posterior cover like you councils, and to create of the vertical fins in order to careen the inner part of the wheels in order to diminish the turbulence, but I do not understand why me councils to use of the more flexible material

thanks beatr, I know that it is important to make good articles for the good of the community like I have already said several times, follows this forum from much time, here why I have the clear ideas on where and like modifying ;).

often, use the translator in order to write, but I try to use it less possible or at least in order to find the errors rougher.

But, if you want to correct to me, I will be happy of your councils and I will not take offense myself

I am newly here with the news photos

in the first place, I wish that you see the front of original car:

now, this is the frontal car with added Sx engine cover and air deviator.

the profile sight

and the source of materials

the front deviators, needs, of being painted of black colour.

ciao

I was advising the use of a more flexible material so that you could bend it to a shape that fits everything smoothly. It appeared to me that the original material was thick and stiff.

Very nice front deflectors.

thanks for your explanation, Bill :)

the rear extractor is temporary, that definitive, must be in fiberglass, more wide and to also cover the noise suppressor

thanks many for compliment

upgrade semi-ended.

today, I have ended (if one may use the expression)!

tomorrow I go with the tests, hat they are various from yours :D

Bill in Houston 07-19-2007 05:45 PM

Amico, take them OFF the car BEFORE you paint them! :-)

lunarhighway 07-19-2007 11:51 PM

neat! they kind of look like something i've made, only yours look more effective. very smooth. but indeed take them off before you paint them, or take the time to mask things! perhaps you can mask the bottom of the bumper and repaint the lower plastic part along with the deflectors, that way they'll blend completely with the look of the entire car. but a very nice job!

fabrio 07-20-2007 01:43 AM

:D Yes, you have reason, but I had much haste to finish in order to see the result.

fabrio 07-21-2007 07:15 AM

I do not have way to estimate the eventual improvements, moreover, during the use of the car, have noticed an increase of the aerodynamic noisiness. I know, that this, is not a good indication, you believe that I have gotten worse the situation or not? After to have felt the turbulence, I have thought, that he derived from the flexibility of some elements, therefore, I have supplied to block they with of the expanded foam, and must say, that the situation seems to be improved. You have of the indications to supply to me with regard to, even of the personal experiences?

Bill in Houston 07-21-2007 08:30 AM

I have not used expanded foam, but it seems like a good product to use to reduce noise.

fabrio 07-22-2007 07:14 PM

after the use of expanded foam the noise it is reduced, but non eliminated.

I task, than features of aerodynamic noise.
can be gotten worse the situation with added front deviator?
