Thanks guys! I was going to make a similar post since my car doesn't like going into first gear only when it's cold. If I turn the car off, it will go into gear just fine. So sometimes, if I'm impatient to let the car warm up properly so it will go into first gear, I will turn the car off, shift into first gear and then turn the car back on again. It's only resistant to engaging gear when it's cold. (the colder it is, the worse it is--sometimes if it's cold enough it simply will not go into gear until the engine as been running long enough to warm things up sufficiently)

If shifting into another gear before first works, try just pressing it towards first and letting out the clutch slightly to rotate the gears into position... It should drop into gear.
