repair / clean Oxygen sensor.
greetings.
Time ago, in this forum (dont remember). I read about how to clean the oxygen sensor, an alternative to a buy new O2 sensor. I already searched for that post, but I dont found it. Someone can help me? |
If someone knows about this I am very interested in trying it.

https://mr2.com/TEXT/O2_Sensor.html just good info about o2 sensors I think I will try to test my sensor sometime soon. |
Isn't there a ceramic core on oxygen sensors?
|
yeah pretty sure there is. just replace the thing if it needs it.
|
some can be expensive, so what about carb/intake cleaner and compressed air?
|
Cleaning them like this will only work if the failure of the O2 sensor is premature. The catalyst in the sensor that causes the reaction that makes the voltage output will eventually wear out no matter how clean an engine runs.
Unless the engine was just running badly to begin with I've never seen an O2 sensor that had deposits caked on. It should also be noted that one of the early causes of O2 sensor failure is water condensation. |
I've also been told you can clean them by letting them soak in Sea Foam overnight.
|
I'd do a bottle of 99% Isopropyl in the tank and an "Italian tune up"

I have a 1 wire o2. mines only $20 new. yes. I have a wbo2 and it really doesn't take that long at all for the ecu to go into closed loop. I'd be surprised if a heated o2 really put a car in closed loop any faster.., |
